WORDS & VISIONS FROM THE GOSPEL OF PHILIP - plus DARK THOUGHT

The early Christian and Gnostic and Roman world tended
to think in dualistic terms - good vs evil; the spirit vs lust,
the evil material world, vs the invisible spiritual world.
The Greeks were more  pantheistic; they  thought
more in terms of unity and the goodness of all things.
Lust was not a problem in the thinking
of the Greeks.

        (A) Without lust we would not exist. Sex is the
source of our being.
        (B)  Desire is the powerful enemy of the soul.
These two statements (A and B) express the paradox
of love, the difficulty of making any final judgements
about this subject.
It is in the obsession with lust that the difficulty
resides. If you see and pursue only the sweetness
of the fire, you are living in one of the hells.
But it is a pleasant hell. It must be one of the
upper hells, until you see your bones dissolve within
you with ageing.
When this starts to happen, perhaps it's best
to focus on the heritage of  light, to take a step
out of impermanence, and build your
spiritual residence in the eternal.

NOTE:                         IS THIS A REPEAT FROM ABOVE??  WK
                              (Note:  pantheism  vs dualism))
The fire, which is the lust in our loins
which is unconsciousness, which
will lead us to a deep, dark and narrow
place...if we continue in it's grasp.
       to those who
partake of the light, --are borne in the light ---
to these the fires are purifying and not
ultimately destructive...
Those whose  Identity partakes of the Father,
those who are born in the Chrism of the Christ,
are not cast into a dark and narrow place
where shadows torment the souls...
The early Christian and Roman world y  thought
to think in dualistic terms. The Greeks   thought more in terms of
unity of the world  the goodness of all things in the Universe,
including desire.

        (a) Without lust we would not exist. Sex is the
source of our being.
        (b)  Desire is the powerful enemy of the soul.
These two statements  express the paradox
of love.

I went to a dinner at a rich relation's house. There were a number of people sitting around a dining table in a smallish room - (14 men , 10 women, all lavishly dressed)
It was at that moment, as I entered, that I thought this: " I can kill them all with my bare hands, teeth and nails and fingers."
There was a lot of meaningless polite patter, and I hated it - especially with the luxurious surroundings...

It was then that I began to question my own  true nature.

VOICE OF THE THUNDER - 1........CLIFFTOP WRITINGS

As I've explained in articles many times, I am not a religious person. However I am a practicing mystic, and as I grew up
almost a solitary person beside the sea,
in my early years I was in touch with Spirit
on the north coast of Jamaica, before I reached the age of articulation.
Running along the coral to the sound of ocean waves, I was a very lucky man, because my earliest vision was that of
the pristine, pervading all aspects of
my life.
                I imagine, for many people,
childhood was that way. This is why
we long for the radiant days
of our youth.

I was in Toronto one time,
at a band rehearsal and picnic. The
band members, most of us ate the sacred
mushroom. It's possible I ate more than
everybody else, so I found myself lying
on the hardwood floor in the dark
interior of the house.
In a moment of deep meditation
and prayer, I asked God, "What am I?"
A loud voice that shook the foundations of the house answered. The voice of the Lord
said:

          "YOU ARE AN EMPTY VESSEL."

Now that's not exactly a compliment,
and you can be sure I'd never say any such thing, even if I was suffering a psychotic break
and I was talking to myself.
               The thundering words had undeniable
truth, and I have not be able to doubt these words to this day.

The reason I mention this occurrence
is that in later days, when I was living in the hut at the top of the cliff, words passed through me, words spoken from on high. And
these words never would have appeared on
the page of my notebook, had I not been an
empty vessel, a flute played by
the voice of the wind.

I do not claim ownership of the following words. In fact, I have hesitated
to publish this thundering rebuke
at all.
               Through cowardice, I have
refused to popularize these words.
But out of the great sea of words in my notebooks, and manuscripts, the pages of
this passage keep appearing again and

again in different rooms.

I was writing the following words
on a small round table with a round steel base.

The base of the table was on a flat rock of ancient granite.
There were people within thirty feet of me, sitting in the woods, watching a fire.
Apparently as I wrote these words
the table started to hum. It made a strong
vibrating sound all the time I wrote
down the following words. I was not conscious

of any sound, for the words kept pouring through me. I could look around at the dramatic view of lakes and islands
way below me, my hand kept moving and
the table was humming with intensity
on its base as if a voice of thunder was
passing through the table from on high
and into the rock below.
I wrote the words verbatim, as the voice passed through me.
                No changes have been made
to this passage whatsoever. This passage was written on the cliff top thirty years ago.

"The gold herein is not the
gold of men, the fool's gold, which men
crave in a frenzy and which turns a
nation to a nation of hoarders. No,
the gold herein is the philosopher's
gold, that which transmutes baser
matters. And it is this gold,
the Law of the Father, which should be
kept guarded and locked in the heart
of our Nation. All else is
transient dross.
Rather seek the Pearl which endures
the rotting of mortal flesh. For this Pearl
is the eye of hope that shines in the Mind
of the Father. In the time of morning,
we shall see with the eyes of spring this
Pearl with this Mind.

It is through the Realization of this Mind
that the Anointed One is coming.

The Eye with which we see God,
Is the Eye with which we are seen.
As we know, so are we known.
As we forgive, so are we forgiven.
       As we have given gifts,
So there is much that we are given.
And as we grow to love,
O how are we loved and forgiven
Even before we have knelt to pray...

        Espouse ideas of brilliant vogue
and flashy chicanery, but your
cleverness will have no answers
for this test, as your mettle is weighed.
Think what you wish: in the
wilderness of opinion there is no rest:
a sword of Judgment passes through
the world all the same. And it casts
the dead branches, who presumed
to be the vine in its entirety.
Christ is the vine who has
set fire to the world, to burn off
the dead weight and barren chaff,
set fire to error in the Midst.
         Those who said,
"By the strength of my hand have
I done it, and by my wisdom."
What will you do in the day of
visitation?"

from THE CLIFFTOP WRITINGS

Clifftop Writings:
______________

"The poet knew that he had
            tasted the Mind of God
He had been taught and schooled
by the Lord on cliff tops,
promontories into deep lakes
and wild seas. In many such
places the Lord of Hosts revealed
the eternal presence of His seeing
in His holy light.
           The poet had been astounded
repeatedly and anointed by the Lord,
through none of his own
doing, but by Grace only.
That all things are of God:
matter and soul and spirit originate
in Him, and all returns to Him.

All is in the crystal shower
of the incandescent throne,
The holy fountain that erupts
and subsides again: the awareness
which is the eye of the seashell
And of the hurricane and the tornado:
The burning blaze at the heart
Of the atom; the restless charge
That leaps throughout the adhesion
Of molecules; the pure eye of the
Baby child newly in her cradle:
The leap of a bright butterfly off a
          summer branch,
The yellow eye of the sun
The eye for which all all time
                            is present
The past and the future exist
                            simultaneous
To the Mind of God:

"I see Moses in his day and
Adam and the birth of my son
In whom I am well pleased;
I am Alpha, Omega, and I am
the unity of the Universe."

"I am  the living and fiery essence
         that burns in the light of the stars;
I am the white light of holy dreams
         and realities,
The chastity of the bride
The white wedding of the Mind;
I am the poet's poetry
The prophecy of the sage
I am the potter,
You are my clay:
I give to you, even this
New heaven and earth

I PRAISE THEE, O LORD OF HOSTS I PRAISE THY NAME

“Oh, you Saints and Bodhisattvas! I hail thee! Aid me now, please, I  can’t finish this passage without your help. You know this to be true.”

“Oh, Holy Father, you are the Lord of Hosts, God of Israel and Albion – You who breathe joy into my spirit and my soul… you who are at the heart of me –

Lord of the Meeting RIVERS,  You of the red earth of the Indus plains, You of the Caribbean… of the Mother of my Love, You who are Grace to all things earthly, and all sphere’s beyond the earth. You who give me all my strength; you know I have no strength without you.

YOU WHO BRING FERTILITY TO ALL THE LANDS,

you who rouse me from my sleep and show me  the beauty of women once again.

You who lift me from my solitude, you who carry me to the sweet and bubbling waters that flow straight into me from the mouth of your transcendent Son.

You who show me mercy, you who led me to your

miraculous, transcendental, eternal Son, You who have shown His Mind to me…

You who teach me the joyous meaning of ‘“FOREVER”… You who have set me free…You who lead me  to sit by the still waters… You who lead into the meaning and core of Your TrinitY…You who teach me the Truth, You who return my home to me — You who make me glad and show me the Mystical value of your Sun rising and falling around me —You who love me more than I ever could love myself, you who cleared the Path for me — so that now I  clear the Path for others,

especially so I may make straight the way for our Youth, those of us who will build a renewed Nation, those who will Quest and find you, because of the sign posts we set out and which you sanitize and bless today – signs for those courageous pilgrims and heroes who will sail the seas of Your terror, the path way to the site of your foundation experience, Realization which transcends the centuries… You who are my soul, you who bathe me in the sunlight of your Eternal Spirit, You in whom Grace resides,

the only place where Grace can ever be, you who are the Mind of God. You who teach your Mind to me, so that others may learn through your power, the strength that you bequeath to me… you who are my God, the only One to me… You who are The One Who Is Creating Us, I praise Thee. I praise Thee, O holy Lord, I praise Thee forever, now and hereafter, I praise Thee to the heights, that all the world might be blessed so as to praise Thee. I have no strength of my own – only the strength through which you have carried me.

I thank you, Lord of Hosts, for you are Father to me. You are my Soul.

Whatever gifts I have, you have given me.I am nothing without your strength . All I am you have given me. In my hand you place the infinite meanings; in my hand you have displayed eternity.

O Holy One, I praise Thee.

POEMS OF THE TRUE ONE

When I was living in small rooms all through the City of Toronto, I started to have
visions of paradise - and not a future
Paradise, either - but a present time living every day paradise.
I saw it in the grass around me, in the flowers in their beds, in wild growing plants in the bush, in the stars in the sky, in the blood red
wine in the  crystal goblet, in the swellings of
a beautiful girl. All was part of One all-embracing paradisal glory and Grace that suffused the green shoots of everything.
I had had that ego annihilation experience,
and I walked in the parks and streets for three days and nights, absorbed in the divinity
of all things. Dark glasses had been removed
from my eyes, dawn was coming, and I saw the chastity of  our Father, the Creating One,
in all things.
After my Realization ( foundation experience) I walked in a new heaven and earth. The immaculate cosmos shone forth
everywhere... I guess it was my eyes that had been new.
There is no explaining such events. I can only say that the Liberation experience is here,
and it can be found by anyone who is willing
to give up enough in the inner search, so as to find the meaning of Identity.

During this experience I wrote a chapter in what I'll call The Poet's Testament. The fact of the matter is - I though I was writing a New Testament with the guidance of the Father.
I've been to jail several times. I thought I'd be killed or jailed again if I called the book,
THE NEW TESTAMENT, so I backed off
and reduced the name.

In this period, also, I wrote "The Father Poems", which I have just discovered in my files once again.
I'll publish one of these poems here,
if I may.

Here's one:

        Father, when I am worthy

to write such poems

       Let me find the poems

of the True one.

For as you are the Father, Lord,

         I would be your son.

And as you are true, Father,

I would be a true one and

write the Word of Truth.

         There are many spirits,

Father, in the Psyche's Dark.

But I would lift your light high,

Father, if I am worthy...

If it shall be, Father, Father let it be.

        Father, when I am worthy

to write such poems

        Let me find the poems

of the True One.

MY NOTES FOR THE GNOSTIC GOSPELS GROUP ON FACEBOOK

                           ***

"He who drinks the bubbling waters from my mouth
Shall become as I am. and I shall be he,
And the hidden things shall be revealed to him."

This is a core teaching for the earliest Christians, Gnostic Christians. It also shows a Buddhist influence.(Joseph Campbell remarked on this) Thomas was the disciple who went to India. Also, there were Buddhist monks in the middle east.

In reality, the two religions are not as far apart as they have been portrayed to be. The Christ, "teacher", "master" as expressed in the Gospel of Thomas is witness to this fact. The Gospel of Thomas is largely made up of question and answer sessions between disciples and Christ the "Master."

Question: "Where is the kingdom of heaven?"
Answer: "If you think it is in the sky, the birds will precede you. If you think it is in the sea, the fish will precede you.
The Kingdom of heaven is spread out upon the earth and men see it not."
The Gospel of Thomas.

The similarity to question and answer sessions between Zen master and monks - is striking to me.

In fact, when Christ was teaching (He may in fact have been called "The Teacher of Righteousnes", a leader from the Essene community - crucified approximately 65 B.C) He was teaching both exoteric and esoteric forms
of his teaching. The article below, "lies vs actuality" touches more on his esoteric teachings, which the Gnostics were very aware of..."the secret teachings", which the Roman Church refused to assimilate.

"This is the gospel of the one who was searched for. And the seeker,
once enlightened, can no longer be found."

When Christ "healed the blind", he was bringing light to the darkness of their oblivion. He was giving them 'enlightenment'.

"The dead went to Jerusalem and did not find what they sought. So they returned to Alexandria, and started asking questions of me." Basilides.

When Jesus "raised the dead" - 'the dead' were the ones who had not as yet found realization. Gnosis means knowledge - the earliest Christians were searching for the "Knowing" experience.

But this was not your purpose - to be a special exceptional hero on behalf of the temporal authorities. Your purpose was to dissolve into the seeker and have the seeker dissolve into you, until there were not two identities, but only one.
This is the meaning of holy communion. It is the meaning of the Eucharist as well.

"SO IT IS WITH THOSE THAT GOD HAS DYED. SINCE HIS DYES ARE IMMORTAL, THEY BECOME IMMORTAL, BY MEANS OF HIS COLOURS." Gospel of Truth

"He was nailed to a tree and he became fruit of the knowledge. It did not, however, cause destruction because it was eaten, but to those who ate it,
it gave cause to become glad in the discovery, and he discovered them in
in himself, and they discovered him in themselves."
